But you can use other any other Linux Distro. You can download the ISO of Ubuntu 18.04 LTS Desktop from here: <a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntu.com\/download\/desktop\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">https:\/\/www.ubuntu.com\/download\/desktop<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So let&#8217;s begin the adventure&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"1_Create_Bootable_USB_using_Startup_Disk_Creator\"><\/span>1. Create Bootable USB using Startup Disk Creator<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Startup disk creator is <strong>pre-installed<\/strong> in most of the Linux distributions including Ubuntu. It is very simple to use it,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Insert your USB disk and launch the Startup Disk Creator from Application Menu (This may be different according to your ubuntu flavor).  You will see a popup window like the below image.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"755\" height=\"516\" src=\"https:\/\/itsupportwale.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Ubuntu-Desktop-Startup-Disk-Creator.jpg\" alt=\"Ubuntu-Desktop-Startup-Disk-Creator\" class=\"wp-image-115\" srcset=\"https:\/\/itsupportwale.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Ubuntu-Desktop-Startup-Disk-Creator.jpg 755w, https:\/\/itsupportwale.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Ubuntu-Desktop-Startup-Disk-Creator-300x205.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 755px) 100vw, 755px\" \/><figcaption>Ubuntu-Desktop-Startup-Disk-Creator<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The simplest thing about this application is that here you will get only two options. The first is for selecting the ISO file and the other is for selecting the USB disk which we want to use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So you have to just click on other option and select the ISO of the Operating System. You can see the list of available USB drives connected to your system.<strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Note: Please choose USB Disk carefully because data of the selected USB disk is erased entirely during the process.<\/strong>\ufeff<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Click on <strong>Make Startup Disk<\/strong> and confirm the selected USB disk. Yeah, that&#8217;s it Your bootable USB disk is ready in few minutes. You will get a popup of <strong>Installation Complete<\/strong> surely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"2_Create_Bootable_USB_using_UNetbootin\"><\/span>2. Create Bootable USB using UNetbootin<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>UNetbootin does not come pre-installed in Ubuntu but You can install it via <strong> Ubuntu Software Center<\/strong> or using the <strong>Terminal<\/strong>. Terminal installation is <strong>recommended<\/strong> for the latest version so Let me show you how to install it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you want to install it via Ubuntu Software Center than just open it and search for UNetbootin and click on install.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But for the <strong>Terminal<\/strong> <strong>Installation<\/strong> you have to run these commands in a terminal :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gezakovacs\/ppa\nsudo apt-get update\nsudo apt-get install unetbootin<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>Now you have successfully installed UNetbootin. When you open it you will get Two methods <strong>Distribution and DiskImage,<\/strong> for making a bootable USB disk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>distribution option<\/strong> is for those people who don&#8217;t have the ISO file of the Operating System and also don&#8217;t want to download it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Using this option all the required files for the selected OS are downloaded by UNetbootin but Remember this method requires an <strong>internet connection<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You have to select the distribution and also the version of the distribution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"540\" height=\"398\" src=\"https:\/\/oracle.itsupportwale.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Ubuntu-Desktop-UNetbootin-Distribution.jpg\" alt=\"Ubuntu-Desktop-UNetbootin-Distribution\" class=\"wp-image-120\" srcset=\"https:\/\/itsupportwale.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Ubuntu-Desktop-UNetbootin-Distribution.jpg 540w, https:\/\/itsupportwale.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Ubuntu-Desktop-UNetbootin-Distribution-300x221.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><figcaption>Ubuntu-Desktop-UNetbootin-Distribution<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The second method is the <strong>DiskImage<\/strong>. In this method, we use the ISO image of the Operating System which we download from the official website of the distribution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"549\" height=\"402\" src=\"https:\/\/itsupportwale.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Ubuntu-Desktop-UNetbootin-DiskImage.jpg\" alt=\"Ubuntu-Desktop-UNetbootin-DiskImage\" class=\"wp-image-121\" srcset=\"https:\/\/itsupportwale.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Ubuntu-Desktop-UNetbootin-DiskImage.jpg 549w, https:\/\/itsupportwale.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Ubuntu-Desktop-UNetbootin-DiskImage-300x220.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 549px) 100vw, 549px\" \/><figcaption>Ubuntu-Desktop-UNetbootin-DiskImage<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>After that, Select the USB drive then hit the OK button to begin the process. Again choose the USB disk carefully because USB disk is being <strong>formated<\/strong> during this process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"3_Cloning_ISO_image_to_a_USB_disk_using_Ddrescue\"><\/span>3. Cloning ISO image to a USB disk using Ddrescue<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In Linux distribution, we all love the terminal interface for installing and updating software because terminals are fast and accurate. That&#8217;s why we choose this command line tool for the third one on this article.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Basically, Ddrescue is a <strong>Data Recovery Tool<\/strong> which can copy data from any device to another. But we using it for Cloning the ISO image to our USB disk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Again, Ddrescue does not come pre-installed in Ubuntu so we have to install it via Terminal so run these commands in a terminal :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>sudo apt update\nsudo apt install gddrescue<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>After Ddrescue installed. For using Ddrescue we need to know the exact name of our USB disk in our system which is also called a <strong>block device name<\/strong> (something like dev\/sd..). To find the exact name run this command in terminal:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>sudo fdisk -l<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>By this, you get the list of connected disks on your system. Identify your USB disk carefully because choosing the wrong disk can destroy or damage your data. Here the USB disk name is <strong>dev\/<g class=\"gr_ gr_6 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling\" id=\"6\" data-gr-id=\"6\">sdb<\/g>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"374\" height=\"303\" src=\"https:\/\/oracle.itsupportwale.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Ubuntu-Desktop-Ddrescue-fdisk.jpg\" alt=\"Ubuntu-Desktop-Ddrescue-fdisk\" class=\"wp-image-123\" srcset=\"https:\/\/itsupportwale.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Ubuntu-Desktop-Ddrescue-fdisk.jpg 374w, https:\/\/itsupportwale.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Ubuntu-Desktop-Ddrescue-fdisk-300x243.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 374px) 100vw, 374px\" \/><figcaption>Ubuntu-Desktop-Ddrescue-fdisk<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>After you get the exact block device name of the USB disk. Run this command in terminal to start the process:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>ddrescue path\/to\/image.iso \/dev\/sdx --force -D<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>In the above command replace the <strong>path\/to\/image.iso<\/strong> with the actual path of the ISO file and also replace the  \/<strong>dev\/sdx<\/strong> with your actual Block device name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When the process is finished the bootable USB disk is ready.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Bootable_USB_in_Ubuntu\"><\/span>Bootable USB in Ubuntu<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In this article, we concluded 3 simplest ways to make a bootable USB in Ubuntu.
